This combined degree will give students the skills to become a successful engineer in the workforce, combined with a strong background of business and commerce principles and practice. It can an advantage for engineering graduates to have business or commerce qualifications early in their career as they are often required to manage complex projects with both tight schedules and budgets. This combined degree enables students to gain credentials in both disciplines in a shorter time than if you were completing two separate degrees. The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program is accredited by Engineers Australia and, through an agreement reached between the professional engineering bodies of other countries (the Washington Accord), is also recognised in the United Kingdom, the Unites States of America, Canada, Ireland, Hong Kong, New Zealand and South Africa.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent; 4SA in English and Maths B; Physics (4,SA) recommended


9 core courses, 20 engineering major specific courses, 14 business or commerce major specific courses. Students are to also complete up to 9 Engineering practice courses (depending on their major).

Study Pathways:

Full credit/advanced standing may be possible for a Bachelor of Engineering Science in the same Engineering major, however 2.5 years of advanced standing is more usual.

Students may apply for admission to study part-time or by distance education, however applicants should ensure they are able to complete this program within the maximum duration of eight years. To achieve this, students will need to complete a minimum of 5 units of study per year or be eligible for 16 units of credit.
