Bachelor of Podiatry

This program is based at Ourimbah campus of the University and involves extensive study of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics, combined with podiatric theory and a focus on professional practise. The program uses case-based learning and focuses on a variety of disciplines. Graduates of the program can expect to find employment in a variety of urban and rural health settings including private and public practices, general hospitals, rehabilitation and community health centres, sports clinics, research centres and consultancies. This degree requires students to participate in clinical placements in NSW Health facilities. Students are subject to policies and procedures laid down for NSW Health workers by the NSW Ministry of Health, including polices around criminal record checking. Students must comply with these requirements prior to undertaking clinical placements.

Year 12 or equivalent; Assumed knowledge: Chemistry and Mathematics; Meet NSW Ministry of Health placement verification requirements

Structure:

The program requires the completion of 240 units, completing over 1000 hours of supervised clinical experience in a variety of settings locally and nationally in rural and regional areas. A rural placement is mandatory.

Study Pathways:

Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) is available to students who achieve the required grade point average in the Bachelor of Podiatry.

NSW Ministry of Health requirements may include a WorkCover Approved First Aid Certificate, a National Police Certificate, a Prohibited Employment Declaration, NSW Health Code of Conduct Agreement as well as fulfilling any required immunisations in order to obtain a NSW Health Certificate of Compliance.

Recognition:

Our degree is accredited by the Australian and New Zealand Podiatry Accreditation Council. Graduates will be eligible to apply for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
