This degree seeks to produce graduates who have an excellent science base for the application of scientific knowledge to agricultural practice. Students will have developed an appreciation of the science contributing to the main components of the agricultural system as well as good knowledge of practical agriculture. The degree provides a scientific background to allow students to interpret and apply scientific principles to the management of agricultural systems, be they plant, soil or animal. The degree also provides graduates with a professionally accredited Law degree and a critical and progressive approach to the existing law and legal system.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent. Assumed knowledge: 2 units in English and Mathematics. Recommended studies: Agriculture, Biology and/or Chemistry

Structure:

240 credit points (equivalent to 40 standard units) with 96 credit points toward the Bachelor of Agriculture component, and 144 credit points toward the Bachelor of Laws component. Both components include core and listed units, with 12 weeks of practical experience incorporated into the Bachelor of Agriculture, and the option for Honours units to be completed in the Bachelor of Laws.

Study Pathways:

An Honours option for either the Bachelor of Agriculture or the Bachelor of Laws component is available on the basis of academic merit. An exit pathway is available for eligible students.

Recognition:

The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree is accredited by the Legal Practitioners Admission Board of NSW. Upon completion of the LLB, graduates may complete a period of practical legal training and be qualified to apply for admission as an Australian Lawyer. After admission you are then eligible to apply for a practising certificate as a solicitor from the Law Society of NSW or undertake further studies to obtain a practising certificate as a barrister from the Bar Association of NSW.

College accommodation

UNE’s residential accommodation currently consists of eight colleges and a village of self-contained units. Accommodation ranges from the more traditional college with meals included and shared bathroom facilities, to the more independent, self-contained flats at Wright Village and UNE’s new Wright College , which provides modern studio apartments complete with your own kitchen and bathroom facilities.
