Graduate Diploma of Urban Horticulture

This program teaches students how to design, implement and manage urban landscapes. Students gain an understanding of the biological, socio-cultural and environmental factors that shape horticultural systems. The program is delivered in 9 hectares of heritage-listed gardens at Burnley campus, Australia's leading centre for horticultural education with over 120 years of experience. The campus features a unique collection of indigenous and exotic plants; a landscape construction area; training gardens for design and maintenance; container and field nurseries; a horticultural library; and experimental plots.

Australian: $30,976
International: $40,960

Entry Requirements:

Bachelor degree with a grade average of 65% or greater; or honours degree or equivalent; or Graduate Diploma; or Graduate Certificate with a grade average of 65% or higher

Structure:

Six core subjects; two elective subjects chosen from an approved list. One year full-time or part-time equivalent.

Study Pathways:

Completion of an Honours program or a Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Horticulture (or equivalent) will give an advanced standing of 100 points into the Master of Urban Horticulture.

Further information:

Graduates are employed in careers including arboriculture, commerce and sales, education and training, garden design and management, landscape management, horticultural media and nursery production. Graduates may also pursue a career in management or research and development in emerging areas such as green infrastructure, urban food production, and social and therapeutic horticulture.
