The Graduate Certificate of Surgical Education is the industry leading course for surgeons who want to pass on their experience and knowledge to the next generation. Students will gain a foundation in educational practice for optimising surgical training in the complex sets of skills required for safe surgical practice.

Structure

To gain the Graduate Certificate in Surgical Education, you must complete four core subjects (12.5 credit points each). You are expected to enrol in two subjects per semester, but it’s possible to undertake just one, and complete the certificate over a longer period of time.

Standard entry requirements

A Doctor of Medicine or Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent qualification, and at least two years of relevant clinical work experience.

Study pathways

Students who completed the Graduate Certificate in Surgical Education can gain a full credit (50 points) toward the Graduate Diploma in Surgical Education and the Master of Surgical Education.
