The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy is a four-year undergraduate qualification for students who are committed to improving the lives of people by enabling participation in everyday life. The program is designed to meet the competency standards for new graduate occupational therapists (Australian Competency Standards for Occupational Therapists 2010). The course will involve study both in and outside standard teaching periods. The course combines extensive university-based units as well as 1000 hours of practice education which is undertaken on a full-time working basis. Students will be allocated their practice education placements which may be interstate and could be in rural or remote locations. Students are responsible for travel and accommodation costs related to placement.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent. There are non-standard English language requirements for this course. To be eligible you must have an academic IELTS or equivalent of 7.0, with no band score below 7.0. Additional admission requirements: Clinical practice is a key component of the program and is assessed. Students may be required to complete this component outside of teaching time. Prior to commencing clinical practice, all students need to present a complete immunisation schedule, and First Aid certificates including CPR, as a requirement of the ACT and NSW health departments. All students are required to undergo a 'working with vulnerable people' check, an Australian Federal Police Record Check prior to undertaking clinical experience in the ACT, and a NSW Police check before undertaking practice in NSW.
