Bachelor of Laws

University of Canberra

This course is for undergraduates who seek completion of a law degree in minimum time. Our highly practical approach is a marked strength and continues to set our law degree apart from those of other universities. With small class sizes and highly qualified and experienced staff, students will be encouraged to develop their advocacy abilities and legal skills while understanding their connection to the theory and history of law. Students can tailor an individual study program by selecting from a variety of electives across many different areas of law and even choose to accelerate their studies by learning through the winter term. The course will ground students' legal education in the broader social and economic context and support their development as a socially responsible and ethical legal professional. Students in this course will undertake an in-depth study of selected areas of law, including the Priestley 11 units and chosen restricted law electives; participate in a program of study and learning which satisfies the academic requirements for admission to legal practice; graduate with a broad and coherent theoretical and technical knowledge of the discipline of law, suitable for entering the legal profession or undertaking other careers involving legal work.
