Graduate Diploma of Biostatistics

Offered in conjunction with the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia (BCA), the Graduate Diploma in Biostatistics is delivered entirely online by leading teachers from the six universities across Australia that contribute to the BCA program. It is well suited to students from a range of backgrounds who have an interest in health sciences and statistics and an aptitude for mathematics. Biostatistical expertise is in high demand in many areas. On completion of the graduate diploma, graduates will have attained the required skills for employment as a biostatisian and will be prepared to find employment in medical and epidemiological research, the pharmaceutical industry, and government departments and agencies. The diploma also provides a solid grounding for further study with the Master of Biostatistics, or a more general Public Health degree. Australian: $25,000

Entry Requirements:

Bachelor degree or equivalent, plus acceptable standard in Maths proficiency. The selection process also considers qualifications/experience in a relevant field and includes an interview with the Program Coordinator.

The organisation of the BCA program delivery is unique in the world. A student enrols for the award - Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, or Masters - at their 'home' university, for example, the University of Adelaide. The BCA designates one university from within the Collaboration to deliver a particular course by distance to students around Australia, regardless of the university of enrolment. The BCA programs are supported by the collaborating universities, the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, state departments of health, and the pharmaceutical industry.
