The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Environmental) provides students with the skills to design integrated solutions to some of the planet's most challenging environmental problems. Students learn about the connections between infrastructure, environment, society and economy in the developed and developing world, and use an integrated approach to solve complex problems associated with water, energy, food, pollution, waste, and natural hazards. Led by award-winning academics who are global experts in their field, students are nurtured in a team environment and apply their knowledge to real-world projects based on industry needs. Recent projects have covered: urban water, integrated river management, development issues in the Mekong region of South East Asia, strategic infrastructure planning, and environmental protection.

Structure

In the first two years of the program students build a mathematical, scientific and engineering design foundation. In the third and fourth years studies include professional engineering courses, specialisations, communication and management courses, and project work. The program also includes studies in environmental economics and environmental law.Students are required to complete 6 weeks of approved practical experience.

Standard entry requirements

Prerequisites: SACE Stage 2: Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics and one of Chemistry or Physics. International Baccalaureate: Mathematics (HL grade 3) and Chemistry (SL grade 4 / HL grade3) or Physics (SL grade 4/ HL grade 3). If Stage 2 studies were undertaken prior to 2017, the equivalent subject was known as Mathematical Studies.
