This qualification is part of the Health Training Package. It provides the knowledge and skills necessary to provide an advanced level of assistance to a dentist, dental hygienist, dental prosthetist, dental therapist or oral health therapist, which contributes to the quality of oral health care. Specialisation is possible in: Radiography; Oral health promotion; General anaesthesia and conscious sedation; Technical records; Dental practice administration work.

Entry Requirements:

Certificate III in Dental Assisting; plus current relevant employment

14 units: 10 core; 4 elective

Core: Prepare for and assist with oral health care procedures; Assist with dental radiography; Assist with administration in dental practice; Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures; Process reusable medical devices and equipment; Maintain work health and safety; Implement and monitor infection prevention and control policies and procedures; plus more and electives.
