Certificate III in Companion Animal Services

This qualification is part of the Animal Care and Management Training Package. Training is provided for pet care workers who are employed or for those who may be seeking employment in kennels, catteries, pet shops, grooming salons and veterinary practices. Students would gain specific skills in animal care including training in the following: nutrition; care and management of dogs, cats, birds and small mammals; reception and office administration; grooming and clipping dogs and cats.

Entry Requirements:

Completion of Year 10 with a minimum of sound achievement in at least four subjects including an English, Mathematics and Science subject, or mature age entry


15 units: 6 core; 6 group A electives; 3 group B electives

Core: Work effectively in the companion animal industry; Complete animal care hygiene routines; Maintain and monitor animal health and wellbeing; Comply with infection control policies and procedures in animal care work; Contribute to occupational health and safety processes; Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices. Electives: Provide advice on companion animal selection and general care; Capture, handle and transport companion animals; Provide grooming services for companion animal comfort; Provide reception services for an animal care facility; plus more.
