Certificate IV in English for Academic Purposes


This course is designed for students who do not meet the English entry requirements for university at either undergraduate or postgraduate level. This course develops the Academic English and Study Skills necerssary to succeed in study at a Tertiary level in Australia. Course components include: Academic reading and writing skills classes. Using technology to communicate in an academic context. Participation in tutorial discussions to develop collaborative learning skills. Conducting research for academic purposes. Oral presentations skills in an academic context.

Electives: Use digital technology for routine workplace tasks; Manage own work-related learning; Operate word-processing applications; Use, communicate and search securely on the internet; Operate spreadsheet applications; Operate presentation packages; Contribute to strategies to communicate across cultures and build understanding; Analyse and respond to texts in digital and online contexts.
