Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade


This qualification is part of the Metal and Engineering Training Package. It is designed for trainees and apprentices who are employed in the metals and engineering industry. The course covers metal fabrication, fabricating ducting and custom designed metal structures/objects and welding activities.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants must possess literacy, numeracy and maths skills equivalent to Year 10. Students who do not possess these skills to the level required will be enrolled in additional subjects to build the required skills.

Program entry assessment; Occupational health and safety and industry environment; Engineering trade maths; Hand skills and drawing interpretation; Welding and thermal cutting; Basic trade skills project; Workplace performance and validation (heavy fabrication); Advanced welding and thermal cutting; Pattern development; Advanced trade skills project; Complex CAD; Complex welding; Complex trade skills project; Training others in an engineering workplace.

Further information:

Students entering as an apprentice or trainee must be employed in the relevant industry prior to enrolment. Applicants who are not an apprentice or trainee must obtain permission from the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology before enrolling.
