Turn your passion for sport into a career with the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science. Develop the skills that will enable you to improve the health, fitness and performance of individuals and teams through training, coaching and advice. You'll learn how to navigate the increasingly digitised exercise and sport industry through access to cutting-edge laboratories and technology, including wearable sensors, virtual reality and 3D analysis equipment. You'll also gain experience through industry-based entrepreneurial and research projects. Graduate ready to apply for roles such as sport or exercise scientist; coach; or strength and conditioning specialist in elite or community sport, government agencies, clinical settings or corporate wellbeing. This course offers students a pathway into postgraduate studies in clinical exercise physiology, occupational therapy and physiotherapy, and various research degrees.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent; VCE prerequisites: Units 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 25 in English (or equivalent) or 30 in English (EAL); and Units 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 20 in any Mathematics. Additional performance criteria and prerequisite requirements may also apply. English language requirements - satisfactory completion of one of the following: Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 65%, all skills 65%; minimum IELTS overall band of 6.0 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0; TOEFL iBT (internet-based) minimum score of 75 with a reading band no less than 18 and writing band no less than 20; Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 50 (no communicative skills less than 50); any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency. Note: A prerequisite for many courses, the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) can now be done on campus in Hawthorn. Working with Children Check: All applicants must maintain a current Working with Children Check throughout the duration of the program. First Aid Certificate: A current First Aid Certificate/CPR certificate is required prior to undertaking any placement units.

Structure:

300 credit points comprising: 20 core units of study in exercise and sport science (250 credit points); 4 units of Other studies comprising a minor, student enrichment studies or electives as applicable (up to 50 credit points). Working with Children Check: All applicants must maintain a current Australian Working with Children Check throughout the duration of the program. First Aid Certificate: A current Australian First Aid Certificate CPR certificate is required prior to undertaking any placement units.

Pathways allow students to progress from one qualification to another where the first course is recognised as an entry requirement and/or provides advanced standing to the second. Credit is granted in recognition of previous study and/or experience and allows students to gain advanced standing towards their course. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Honours year available.
