This is an in-depth program providing current or aspiring managers with high-level expertise in planning, directing, implementing and monitoring an organisation's marketing effort. Students will understand the role of marketing and its relationship with other important functional areas in management, and develop the ability to design and undertake sophisticated marketing research. The program allows students to identify and improve their personal management skills and increase their range of knowledge by studying non-marketing courses.

Entry Requirements:

An Australian bachelor degree or equivalent, or higher level qualification, in business (or related) discipline from a recognised tertiary institution; or RMIT Graduate Certificate in Marketing.


Subjects studied may include: Accounting for Management Decisions; Buyer Behaviour; Managing Human Performance; Marketing Management and Implementation; Practice-Based Marketing Research Project; Online Marketing; Sales Negotiation and Management; Services Marketing and Management; Brand and Product Management.

Subjects you can Study:

The master degree comprises core and elective courses. You will be able to select six electives that can both deepen and broaden your knowledge of marketing, and will complete a practice-based marketing research project.

Study Pathways:

If applicants have completed an Australian bachelor degree or equivalent, or higher level qualification, in a business (or related) discipline from a recognised tertiary institution, applicants will receive exemptions from the four business enabling courses. If applicants have a major in a non-business discipline, the student will begin their studies at Graduate Certificate level. Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Marketing students will be admitted to the Master program, which requires the successful completion of further courses.

This program can be studied online through RMIT Online. The program enhances opportunities to obtain promotion and more senior positions; be more effective in a marketing role; and contribute more to specific marketing activities.


Graduates can apply to become a member of the Australian Marketing Institute and the Australian Market and Social Research Society.
