Bachelor of Vision Science / Master of Optometry

Queensland University of Technology (QUT)

This dual award program in optometry incorporates the 3-year Bachelor of Vision Science followed by a 2-year Master of Optometry. Students in the optometry program will work with a range of complex instruments and learn to use clinical judgement to treat patients in a variety of ways including prescription of contact lenses and spectacles, or provide advice on lighting and visual habits. The program will give students an excellent understanding of general and ocular pharmacology, and skills for therapeutic management of eye disease. The Optometry Clinic, located in QUT Health Clinics, will allow students to acquire and practice clinical skills under the supervision of registered optometrists. This experience is extended with opportunities to participate in activities that focus on prevention and treatment within the wider community.
