The world is an increasingly complicated place, and in desperate need of smart young minds who can help others make sense of it. This course will provide students with the skills and expertise to sift fact from fiction in the contemporary media environment, and to tell stories in innovative ways to engage the 21st century news consumer. Students will learn to prepare and present news through a variety of social channels and across online, print and broadcast platforms. They will build their production skills through hands-on experience in world-class facilities and contribute to QUT News and other outlets. Teaching staff include working professionals and internationally renowned scholars of journalism and media studies. Students can also pursue work experience through industry internships and international exchanges.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent; Assumed knowledge: English (4,SA)

Structure:

288 credit points comprising 4 common units; a Journalism major; plus a second major (8 units), 2 minors (4 units each), or 1 minor (4 units) and 4 electives.

Pathways to Master of Teaching (Secondary) and Master of Philosophy are available. Students may be able to claim advanced standing for part of their course, on the basis of completed or partially completed studies, and other assessable learning outcomes.
