If you have an interest in sport, exercise and health, our Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science gives you the opportunity to obtain the knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in the field. With an increasing focus on the importance of healthy, active lifestyles, exercise science continues to be a growing discipline within Australia and around the world. In this course, you will become experienced in prescribing exercise, as well as assessing and improving the movement of both athletes the general population. Throughout your degree, you will learn practical skills in purpose built state-of-the-art facilities that include a dedicated exercise physiology laboratory complete with a climate and altitude chamber, a rehabilitation, strength and conditioning laboratory, and a performance laboratory, complete with motion capture system and 50-metre running track. In your third year, you'll apply your knowledge and skills while gaining hands-on experience through an industry placement. Placements range from community gymnasiums to professional sporting teams. When you graduate, you may pursue a variety of roles, including Sports Scientist, Strength and Conditioning Coach, Sport and Recreation Officer, Sports Development Officer, Exercise Scientist or Community Education Officer in a range of settings, including in sports academies, institutes of sports, university sport science labs and professional and amateur sporting clubs.

Admission & Selection 

The path you take when you apply to Murdoch will vary depending on who you are and what you want to study. 

High school leavers:

If you’re completing high school this year, you'll need to apply through TISC. Once applications to TISC have closed, you can apply directly to Murdoch until the start of the semester.

All other applicants:

Applications can be made at any time directly to Murdoch using our online application system.

If you don’t currently meet our admission requirements, we have a range of enabling pathways, including our free enabling courses, which will qualify you to apply for any Murdoch undergraduate degree that has a minimum Selection Rank of 70.

 

Study options

Depending on your chosen course, we offer flexible study options including full-time or part-time and on-campus or online.
