From music and sports to global organisations and government departments, accounting is vital to any business or enterprise in any industry. In this course, you'll develop the skills and knowledge you need to become an innovative, creative and ethical thinker who can confidently shape the interactions between business and society. You'll learn the practical skills you need to identify business opportunities, analyse problems and implement solutions. You'll explore how to make decisions related to the acquisition or sale of shares, lending or borrowing money, and providing goods for cash or on credit. You can pursue a range of careers with professional accounting firms, in government, in other private sector firms, and in not-for-profit organisations in roles such as an accountant, auditor, credit manager, financial analyst, financial planner, taxation or management accountant.

Year 12 or equivalent; selection via ATAR; or mature age entry via STAT; or TAFE Certificate IV or higher; English language competency

Structure:

Expand your expertise and career prospects by specialising in two areas of study and complete a double major within the same amount of time as a single degree. For example, you could combine the Accounting major with a major in Finance or Banking. Find out more about double majors

Recognition:

Admission & Selection 

The path you take when you apply to Murdoch will vary depending on who you are and what you want to study. 

High school leavers:

If you’re completing high school this year, you'll need to apply through TISC. Once applications to TISC have closed, you can apply directly to Murdoch until the start of the semester.

All other applicants:

Applications can be made at any time directly to Murdoch using our online application system.

If you don’t currently meet our admission requirements, we have a range of enabling pathways, including our free enabling courses, which will qualify you to apply for any Murdoch undergraduate degree that has a minimum Selection Rank of 70.

 

Study options

Depending on your chosen course, we offer flexible study options including full-time or part-time and on-campus or online.
