Master of Advanced Health Care Practice

This program provides health professionals with the opportunity to take the next step in expanding their careers. This innovative new program will give medical practitioners, midwives, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, radiographers and radiation therapists, and policy makers the opportunity to gain a Masters level qualification that enhances their professional practice and provides the widest range of options for the future. This program is delivered online (except for Clinical Midwifery, which is on campus), offering the quality and recognition of a Monash postgraduate degree with the flexibility provided by the latest online delivery technologies. The program is interprofessional by nature. Students complete a common unit, 'Essentials of advanced health care practice and research', which reflects the collaboration required in practice to deliver health care of the highest quality. On completion of this unit, students then select one of the following specialisations: Clinical midwifery (on campus); Medical imaging; Occupational therapy; Paediatric physiotherapy; Primary health care; Radiation therapy;

Entry Requirements:

Entry level 1: Duration: 1.5 years full-time, 3 years part-time (72 points to complete) A Australian Bachelor Degree in a cognate discipline (or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution) with a 60% credit average AND Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or equivalent accredited Professional Registration Body. AND A minimum of two years equivalent full time experience in the cognate discipline and evidence of current engagement in Clinical Practice in area of specialisation. Entry level 2: Duration: 1 year full-time, 2 years part-time (48 points) A four year Australian Bachelor Degree in the cognate discipline (or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution) with a 60% credit average. OR A three year Australian Bachelor degree and a Graduate Diploma or Masters qualifying Degree in a cognate discipline, with a 60% credit average in both disciplines. AND Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or equivalent accredited Professional Registration Body. AND A minimum of two years equivalent full time experience in the cognate discipline and evidence of current engagement in Clinical Practice in area of specialisation.

Structure:

The course is structured in two parts: Part A. Foundations for advanced health care practice and Part B. Advanced specialist study. All students complete Part B. Depending upon prior qualifications, you may receive credit for Part A. Note that if you are eligible for credit for prior studies, you may elect not to receive the credit and complete the higher credit-point option.

All specialisations are delivered Off Campus (online) except for Clinical Midwifery which is delivered at Peninsula campus.
