Bachelor of Business / Bachelor of Banking and Finance

Monash University

This combined program provides the opportunity to study complementary areas to give students a genuine depth of study across business disciplines, or build a portfolio of skills by studying different disciplines to increase employability. This course leads to two separate degrees. Students will be awarded: the Bachelor of Business and the Bachelor of Banking and Finance. Students will gain all the benefits of each degree and be fully equipped to pursue a career in a broad range of business fields both in Australia and around the world. The Bachelor of Business is comprehensive and flexible and offers students a variety of majors to choose from. With Banking and Finance students will develop the skills required to manage money in institutional settings such as banks, investment houses or superannuation companies. Students will learn about key banking and finance concepts, and how to assess the financial needs of companies, governments and individuals and match them to suitable financial products. They will gain the skills and knowledge to work across the banking sector and in many different areas such as trading rooms, foreign exchange and bond trading and personal financial planning. Students could consider pairing accounting with banking and finance to give them wide reaching skills across the financial sector or develop management expertise to give them a competitive edge. Banking is a dynamic, fast-paced and global industry, with over 60 banks operating across Australia and thousands of institutions across the world dealing with the circulation of money, grants of credit, making investments, the acquisition of financing and provision of banking facilities. Additional opportunities, such as international exchange and internships are also available, to give students practical experience before students graduate.
