The Intensive Foundation program is suitable for students who have completed a Year 12 equivalent education and have almost reached university entry requirements but still need to improve their English language, general academic and study skills to meet university entry requirements. Successful completion of the program allows students to progress into the first year of a selected Macquarie University degree provided they meet the entry requirements.
Structure
Minimum number of 12 credit points and completion of specified units. Students choose one stream from three options - Arts stream, Business and Commerce stream, and Science and Engineering stream. The course and stream prepares a student for entry into a selection of Macquarie bachelor degrees. Teaching and learning activities focus on assisting students to acquire academic knowledge and the study skills needed to succeed in higher education in Australia. English language skills are integrated into all units to assist students increase their confidence and competence.

Standard entry requirements
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age and completed year 12 or equivalent qualification (conditions apply, see academic requirements on the Macquarie website for further information).
Study pathways
Students who complete the Intensive Foundation Program, achieve the relevant grade point average, and meet all entry requirements can articulate into the first year of a selected Macquarie University degree.
