This program allows students to select two or three disciplines from a wide range of subjects in first year which lay the foundation for specialisation in second and third year. A range of specialisations are available from the majors listed. Through fieldwork and practical experience students undertake hands-on study and research in areas such as tropical rainforests, coastal wetlands, mangroves, tropical savannah, and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as in more traditional science areas.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent. Assumed knowledge: English (Units 3/4,C); Mathematical Methods (Units 3/4,C). Recommended: At least one of Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science, Geography, Specialist Maths or Physics (Units 3/4,C). Students without Chemistry (Units 3/4,C) or Mathematical Methods (Units 3/4,C) must take chemistry and/or mathematics preparatory subjects in Year 1.


72 credit points. Students may undertake a single, double or interdisciplinary major by following an approved sequence of subjects.

Not all majors are available at all campuses. International student visa-holders must not enrol in more than a third of the total credit points for the course in online, distance or external study.
