This program provides graduates with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to provide exercise assessment, prescription and evaluation services for the community, particularly for individuals with chronic and complex diseases (e.g. heart disease, osteoarthritis) and injuries (e.g. workplace/sports). Subjects include anatomy, physiology and psychology and applied/advanced studies in exercise physiology, sports medicine, exercise testing/prescription, exercise rehabilitation, biomechanics, and musculoskeletal/neuromuscular and cardiovascular clinical exercise physiology.

Structure

96 credit points. Prescribed course includes practical placements in a range of settings.

Standard entry requirements

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • English (4, SA), Maths A, B or C (4,SA). Recommended: any of Biology, Chemistry, Health Education or Physical Education
  • Plus meet requirements for clinical placements: immunisation
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate
  • Suitability to Work with Children Card (Blue Card). Some placement agencies require students to produce a current Australian Federal Police check.
