The Master of Tourism is professionally oriented and aims to meet the research needs of applicants with an interest in tourism, enabling them to undertake an in depth research-focused study to increase the theoretical knowledge and research skills required to develop appropriate depth of understanding of issues in either Tourism or Festival and Event Design and Management.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in Tourism, Hospitality or a related discipline and must have achieved a Flinders equivalent grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or above in the upper level topics in this degree; or hold the Graduate Diploma in Tourism from Flinders University or equivalent qualification and must have achieved a Flinders equivalent grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or above in this postgraduate study; or hold an approved Honours degree in Tourism or a closely related discipline.

Structure:

72 units. Students complete four topics in either the Tourism or the Festival and Event Design and Management stream in addition to three core (compulsory) topics, a contemporary tourism research dissertation and at least three option topics chosen from a range of option topics available. These topics provide students with the understanding of the theoretical and practical skills required to develop advanced understanding of issues in tourism and to develop appropriate management strategies and meet individual interests and needs by offering topics relevant to a wide range of workplaces in the tourism sector.
