This degree is intended to provide advanced skills and knowledge for current or prospective employees working in the areas of foreign affairs, defence, international trade and related areas and to advance grounding in the academic debates and research literatures in the field of international relations for students who intend to pursue doctoral studies and an academic career.

Structure

Students complete twelve core (compulsory) topics including either a research paper or a research thesis, and two option topics chosen from a range of option topics available. These topics aim to give students an advanced appreciation of key themes and issues, major historical themes and significant current issues and provides an introduction to an international relations perspective on the Asia-Pacific region in particular. They also provide advanced grounding in the academic debates and research literatures in the field of International Relations and cognate subjects for students who intend to pursue doctoral studies and an academic career.

Standard entry requirements

  • Applicants must normally hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification
  • Or hold the Graduate Certificate in International Relations or the Graduate Diploma in International Relations from Flinders University or equivalent qualification.
