Provides practical links between theory, reading and writing processes, assessment and teaching, in order to develop deep understandings about effective teaching of reading and writing from Kindergarten to Year 12. The course builds on current initiatives and research supported by the Department of Education, Science and Training. It offers in-service teachers an opportunity to critically assess evidence-based teaching of reading and writing, challenge personal and system-wide assumptions about literacy teaching, as well as enhance practical skills in teaching reading and writing.
