This course is designed to allow a graduate in electrical engineering to proceed to further studies in a particular field by means of advanced coursework and a project. This course offers streams in Embedded Systems, Emerging Power Systems, and Telecommunications and Networking. Under the guidance of the course coordinator optional units can provide specialisation in areas not covered by the main streams. A one-year, design project must be undertaken to demonstrate technical knowledge and professional skills at postgraduate level.

Structure

This course is made up of 300 credit points 2 core units and a choice of 3 Streams 200 credit points each. The course requires four units (100 credits) per semester for a total of four semesters.

Standard entry requirements

Specifically, applicants requrie a bachelor of engineering degree in electronic, communications, electrical, electrical power or computer systems from a recognised university. The degree must include topics on circuit theory, computer programming, probability theory and electronic design. The Head of Department will consider applications from other graduates in engineering on a case-by-case basis. Graduates may qualify for entry to Doctoral degrees.
