This qualification is part of the Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package. It provides an introduction to the construction industry, its culture, occupations, job roles and workplace expectations. The units of competency cover essential OHS requirements, the industrial and work organisation structure, communication skills, work planning, and basic use of tools and materials. The qualification is built around a basic construction project unit that integrates the skills and embeds the facets of employability skills in context.

Core: Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry; Plan and organise work; Conduct workplace communication; Read and interpret plans and specifications; Use construction tools and equipment; Work safely in the construction industry; Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry; Undertake a basic construction project. Electives: Undertake basic estimation and costing; Carry out measurements and calculations; Handle construction materials; Apply basic levelling procedures; Undertake a basic computer design project.

Skills achieved will assist in successfully undertaking a Certificate II pre-vocational program or job outcome qualification, or will facilitate entry into an Australian Apprenticeship.

Established in 1994, CSTC Pty Ltd is a Registered Training Organisation that offers specialist courses in WHSO's Safety Representatives as well as OH&S licensing for the operation of loadshifting equipment, cranes, rigging and scaffolding as well qualifications in general and civil construction. CSTC also provides training in Non-Friable, Friable and Supervisors Training in our state of the art asbestos training facility.
