The Master of Teaching (Secondary) is an initial teacher education course that provides graduates with the skills, knowledge and experiences necessary to positively impact student learning in the classroom. The design of this course utilises CQUniversity's three term structure, allowing students to study full time and complete the course in 1.5 years. The course is structured to include work-integrated learning as in-school practicum placements in each term of study. Graduates will be equipped with the appropriate evidence, as outlined by the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (Graduate Career Stage), to apply for provisional teacher registration with the Queensland College of Teachers, the administering body in Queensland.

Standard entry requirements
To be eligible applicants must have completed a 3 year non-education Bachelor degree or equivalent from a university or college that demonstrates sufficient knowledge development in two recognised teaching areas. The GPA within the Bachelor degree must be at least 4.0. Please see the other information section for details. English language requirements also apply.
Recognition
Graduates will be eligible to apply for provisional registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.

Major Teaching Area: Study equivalent to a total of three-quarters of a year of successful full time higher education study, comprising sequential discipline study taken over three years. This equates to six units, with no more than two at first year level and no fewer than two units at third year level. Minor Teaching Area: Study equivalent to a total of half a year of successful full time higher education study, comprising sequential discipline study taken over two years. This equates to four units, with no more than two at first year level. In addition to prior academic study students will also be assessed on non-academic criteria for entry to this course.
