Designed with input from our industry partners, the Bachelor of Laws Bachelor of Information Technology is a multidisciplinary qualification designed to enable you to gain entry into the legal and information technology professions. This innovative dual degree will put you on the cutting edge of the legal industry's transformation towards automation and the legal information technology careers of the future. You will benefit from current, industry relevant units as well as in-built practical experiences within the Bachelor of Laws and the option to complete an internship or capstone unit within the Bachelor of Information Technology. The core areas of the law degree match those required for admission to the legal profession including statutory interpretation, criminal law and procedure, contracts, torts, constitutional law, equity, administrative law, property, company, evidence, professional responsibility and civil procedure. During information technology studies students will learn the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in the information technology industry. Students will benefit from current industry relevant units as well as in-built practical experiences including the option to complete a work placement or project as part of the capstone unit within the chosen major.

Recognition
This course is an approved academic qualification for admission to the legal profession and is accredited by the Legal Practitioners Admissions Board of Queensland. The Bachelor of Information Technology course is fully accredited with Australian Computer Society at professional level.
Study pathways
Interim Award: Bachelor of Information Technology; Bachelor of Laws; Diploma of Information and Communications Technology; Associate Degree of Information Technology Exit Award: Bachelor of Information Technology; Bachelor of Laws; Diploma of Information and Communications Technology; Associate Degree of Information Technology. Students who achieve a grade point average of 5/7 (75 per cent) in the third level of the Bachelor of Laws program, including a 6 or better level pass in at least one course, may wish to complete the Bachelor of Laws (Honours).

Graduates are also required to undertake a further period of practical legal training before being admitted as a legal practitioner. Graduates may then be admitted in any Australian jurisdiction. Students have the option to study units from the Bachelor of Information Technology on campus at Brisbane, Cairns, Melbourne, Rockhampton, Sydney and Townsville campuses.
