This course will prepare students as a well-rounded graduate that qualifies for professional registration as a teacher throughout Australia. The course includes 125 days of planned teaching practice in secondary schools plus other opportunities for students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical ways. Students will also develop the skills required to teach effectively in a wide range of contemporary educational settings.

Study Pathways:

Exit awards: Diploma of Education; Associate Degree of Education; Bachelor of Teaching. Students interested in teaching may also consider the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or the Bachelor of Education (Primary). Students may continue their studies in postgraduate courses such as Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership, Graduate Certificate in Brain Based Education and Master of Education (by Research).

All applicants must meet non-academic criteria required by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership, for entry to this course. To find out more about CQUniversity's English language requirements visit Students will be required to complete 90 supervised placement days and a 25 day internship in order to satisfy the course accreditation requirements.


Graduates will be eligible to apply for provisional registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
