This qualification is part of the Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package. It provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions with a focus on customer contact such as assisting with the conduct of recreation activities, and facility maintenance and operations. Work may be undertaken as part of a team and would be performed under supervision. Work would be undertaken in locations such as community recreation centres or facilities, indoor recreation facilities and leisure and aquatic centres.

13 units: 8 core; 5 elective

Core: Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices; Organise and complete daily work activities; Provide first aid; Assist in preparing and conducting sport and recreation sessions; Provide customer service; Respond to emergency situations; Work effectively in sport and recreation environments; Follow OHS policies. Electives: Monitor pool water quality; Perform basic water rescues; Provide equipment for activities; Maintain sport, fitness and recreation facilities; Organise and maintain work areas; Merchandise products; Advise on products and services; Provide information and assistance; plus more.
