This program aims to ground students in the applied social sciences with a well-developed understanding of social systems, sociological theory, and social policy. It integrates theory, social research, skills and professional experience, preparing students with critical thinking skills for employment in the workforce in public, private and community settings. The program allows students to choose between a minor in Counselling or Coaching, in which they complete three units of study. This course also includes a total of 250 hours of Work-integrated Placement which provide students with practical experience and great networking opportunities to help prepare them for entering the workplace.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent; or a Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree; or partial completion of a Bachelor's degree; or be aged 21 years or over

Structure:

24 units: 8 core units from the Social Science strand; 8 core units in the Professional Practice strand including 250 hours of Work-integrated Placement, 3 core units in the Applied Psychology strand; 3 units in a minor strand and 2 electives.

Since 1983 the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP) has been teaching applied psychology and helping to prepare students to change lives and to make a difference. A leader in applied psychology education, ACAP offers specialist courses in counselling, psychology, case management, coaching and social work, and has more than 4000 students currently studying on-campus or online. ACAP is a nationally registered training organisation (RTO) and higher education provider (HEP). ACAP has city campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Each campus offers a unique experience while delivering the same course content and quality teaching. You can also combine your on-campus learning with studying by flexible delivery. This RTO can offer VET Student Loans for certain approved courses. A VET Student Loan is a capped loan from the Australian Government to help you pay your tuition fees. Your initial loan debt amount (loan and loan fee, if applicable), plus indexation, must be paid back once you start earning over a certain amount. The compulsory threshold for the 2019-2020 income year is $45,881.
