Applied Vocational Training

This qualification is part of the Animal Care and Management Training Package. It is for companion animal workers who want to develop skills that include the special care of a variety of animals, managing and maintaining specialised animal housing facilities, and monitoring and maintaining the health of companion animals. Graduates can specialise in areas such as companion animal grooming services, breeding companion animal livestock, purchasing companion animal livestock and training companion animals.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education. Certificate III in Animal Studies; Certificate III in Companion Animal Services; or relevant vocational experience is recommended.

13 units: 3 core; 10 elective

Core: Manage compliance in the companion animal industry; Maintain and monitor animal health and wellbeing; Maintain OHS processes. Electives: Care for young animals; Manage and maintain aviaries and bird rooms; Design, construct and maintain aquascapes; Purchase companion animal livestock; Manage companion animal breeding; Conduct companion animal training classes; Prepare, deliver and review animal care education programs; plus more.
